Brockhall bow for Academy
ROVERS' Academy will start their 2008/09 campaign on home soil.
Gary Bowyer's under 18 side kick off the new season with a home match against Coventry City, with the match between the two sides will conjuring up memories of an amazing night at Ewood Park three years ago.
The two sides went head-to-head in May 2005 in the Premier League play-off final, but with the trophy seemingly on its way to the Midland's club with them leading 3-1 going into time added on, Rovers turned things around in a dramatic late rally to claim the prize.
There is nothing at stake when the new season starts on Saturday 23rd August, with the Coventry City match kicking off at 11.30am, two away games follow against Crystal Palace and Leeds United before a home game against Sheffield Wednesday.
The Academy get their pre-season preparations underway this Saturday when Tranmere Rovers are the visitors to Brockhall for an 11.00am kick-off, games in Scotland against Celtic and Motherwell follow on Wednesday 23rd and Friday 25th July respectively.
A home friendly against Oldham on August 2nd follows (kick-off 11am), before a trip to Wales to face Conway on Tuesday August 5th, kick-off 7.30pm.
The under 18s final friendly match is Hull City at home on Friday 8th August - kick-off 1pm, before a fortnight of hard training ahead of the season start.
