ROVERS Ladies will be hoping to get off to a winning start when the 2007-08 FA Tesco Women's Premier League season gets underway on Sunday August 19th.

The new fixture list gives Rovers, who finished sixth in their first-ever National Division campaign last season, a home fixture against Cardiff City at Clitheroe FC's Shawbridge ground on the opening day.

Rovers did the double over 10th-placed Cardiff last season and will be hoping an early three points will help launch another successful challenge for honours under manager Adam Lakeland, who will be starting his first full season in charge.

But Rovers face stiffer opposition in their second match - an away fixture against newly-promoted Watford, who won the Southern Division title last season.

And an even bigger challenge awaits on September 23 when Rovers will visit all-conquering Arsenal, who won the 'quadruple' last season. The Gunners travel north for the return fixture on November 25.

A relatively new-look Rovers team will end the season with a trip to Everton, who finished second and qualified for Europe last term.
