JUST days after securing a top-six finish and the promise of UEFA Cup football, Rovers manager Mark Hughes has congratulated the club's hugely successful Ladies team on their promotion to the Women's Premier League.

Andy McNally's side clinched the Northern Division title following their 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough last week and the Rovers' chief was one of the first to acknowledge their achievement.

"I would like to congratulate the ladies on their promotion to the top-flight. It is further good news for the club in a very productive week," he said.

"It takes an awful lot of effort and ability to win a league, so credit to everyone involved and let's hope for continued success next season and in the future."

The ladies team are in action at Ewood Park on Tuesday May 9th (kick-off 7pm) when they take on Newcastle United in their final home game of the season. Entry is free of charge.
