BLACKBURN Rovers have this afternoon completed the signing of Roque Santa Cruz from Bayern Munich.

The 25 year old Paraguay international his signed a four-year deal with the Ewood Park for an undisclosed fee.

Manager Mark Hughes was delighted to add more striking options to his squad: "It is something that I feel we needed, a target man, someone who gives us that threat and presence in the air which maybe our other strikers don't give.

"We've got great variation, I've got Matty (Derbyshire) and Maceo (Rigters) with great pace and enthusiasm, Benni (McCarthy) with his goalscoring ability, Jason (Roberts) with his power and his pace, but what we haven't had is probably a real threat in the air and that is what we have addressed.

"He's a young player, he's only 25, a current international, he has a good reputation and he comes from a top European club."

Chairman John Williams added: "We set off with the intention of securing quality at the right price, and I think we've achieved it."
