Donis delighted to face Rovers
Larissa manager Giorgos Donis has spoken of his delight to be coming up against Blackburn Rovers in the UEFA Cup 1st round.
The former Rovers winger spent time at the Ewood Park club from June 1996 to September 1997, making 25 appearances and scoring 2 goals.
Now in charge of Larissa, Donis was delighted to be facing his former club, speaking to their club's official website www.ael.gr, Donis said: "I am very happy to face a club, that has helped me a lot in my career both as a player and coach.
" I had that feeling, because I believe that our past always follows us in our lives. When I learned that Blackburn will be our opponents I was moved thinking all those great moments I lived in Ewood Park. I am looking forward for the first match against Rovers.
"We all know that Blackburn is one of the biggest clubs in Premiership and the chances are not by our side. Larissa FC is an upcoming team and we will try to do our best."
Rovers are away in the first leg, with the tie taking place on Thursday 20th September, with the return leg at Ewood Park on Thursday 4th October.
In conjunction with Leisure Path, our official travel partner, the club are investigating the possibility of running a charter flight for supporters who wish to make the trip. A further announcement on this will be made as soon as possible. Fans who are interested should register with Barbara Magee, email bmagee@rover-mail.co.uk
