ROVERS boss Mark Hughes felt that key decisions didn't go their way as they had to settle for a point against a lively Tottenham side.

Dimitar Berbatov gave the visitors the lead after just seven minutes, but Morten Gamst Pedersen cancelled out that strike with a goal from ten yards after Bentley's fine pass.

"Spurs started very brightly, kept the ball well and caused us problems, we didn't really come to terms with their movement initially," said Hughes on Radio Rovers after the game.

"We needed the goal just to get us going, we showed a good response to come from the position of behind in the game.

"In the second half I thought we were the better side, we were asking more questions of them, they were playing more of a counter-attacking game and we created chances."

Rovers felt they should have had a second half penalty when David Bentley's run in the area was brought to a halt by Spurs' sub Gilberto, but referee Peter Walton waved away those claims.

"I'm a bit frustrated that we didn't get the penalty in the second half, it was the key decision and in fairness should have been given but it wasn't so we are disappointed with that.

"But I thought it was a decent Premier League game between two evenly matched teams. Given the investment that Spurs have put into their team I think that shows where we are and how well we have done against them.

"We've taken four points off a Spurs team that has good talent and you saw that from some of them today.

"But I was pleased with how we performed, certainly after that nervous start in the opening period, all-in-all, take away the penalty decision and it was probably a fair result."
