Souness shouts instructions from the sidelines
GRAEME Souness was naturally a delighted man after Rovers brought their losing streak to an end with the 2-1 win over Everton at Ewood Park.
"I'm mighty relieved," said Souness on Rovervision and Radio Rovers after the game.
"I thought in the first half we were excellent, we caused Everton all sorts of problems.
"The second half we were very nervous, I said at half-time whoever gets the next goal would be a very important goal, unfortunately Everton got it and it gave a difficult last half an hour for us.
"But I felt in the first half we played some really exciting stuff, we could have scored more than just the two goals we got but I'm mightily relieved to have got the points tonight.
"We played with lots of passion and spirit, we didn't play like a team that was second bottom in the league tonight, I have to mention our crowd, our crowd was magnificent tonight.
"We were a boxer, we were on the ropes, it doesn't mean we've lost the fight, there's still a lot of fight in us, there is a lot of football to be played, and if we are as spirited, not just the players on the pitch, crowd included, if they are as spirited as they were tonight, then we'll be fine.
"I felt tonight we were up for it, and we showed that we are still a good football team." added Souness.
