ROVERS' Irish midfielder Steven Reid is closing in on a return to first-team action following a series of injury setbacks.

The 22-year-old former Millwall star last featured during Rovers' 1-0 defeat at Arsenal back on December 14, and, after making positive strides over recent weeks he could well be in contention for the return clash with the Gunners at Ewood Park on March 13.

Fellow injury victim Lorenzo Amoruso will also be looking to take advantage of the two-week break following this Saturday's match with Southampton. The Italian defender is beginning to battle his way to full fitness after picking up a knee injury in October.

Good news comes in threes as they say, and popular midfield man David Thompson is also on track to be declared fully fit come the start of next season.

'Tommo' is being guided through the rehabilitation process by Rovers' medical team in the hope that he can shake off his recurring knee problem once and for all.
