ROBBIE Savage got a booking on Monday...but it had nothing to do with yellow cards and everyone cheered!

This was Robbie the Poet in impressive action as part of Rovers' commitment to the Premier League's "Reading Stars" initiative.

The Welsh midfielder was joined by Morten Gamst Pedersen, Matt Derbyshire, Jason Brown, Steven Reid and Ryan Nelsen as the first team stars took it in turn to read a series of short poems to pupils from Longshaw Junior School at the Senior Training Centre at Brockhall.

It was quite a testing experience for, also present, were cameras and interviewers from BBC's flagship Match of the Day programme.

The filming of the Reading Stars - aimed to encourage children to take up reading - is one of several events involving Rovers during a week of action as part of the "Creating Chances" campaign.

Sergio Peter is lined up to carry out an interview in German with a group of local modern language students while Brett Emerton has agreed to try his luck at designing and creating a BRFC mousemat with some youngsters at the Ewood Education Department.
