STRIKER Roque Santa Cruz believes that Rovers are showing signs of getting back to their best after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.

Rovers dominated the Villa Park clash for long spells but only had Santa Cruz's 9th goal in 9 games - his 15th in all competitions this season to show, only for Ashley Young's well-struck goal to earn a share of the spoils.

The result means that Mark Hughes' side are unbeaten in their last six Barclays Premier League encounters, with the Paraguayan seeing an improvement in the performance of the side against Villa at the weekend.

"I think the whole team played really well on Saturday" said Santa Cruz. "We were aggressive in our game and I think that is what we haven't seen from ourselves for a long time. We are happy with our performance.

"The whole team played well throughout the game showed good character, something we haven't done in our last few games."

The former Bayern Munich frontman is sure that Rovers can now kick on and end the season in a coveted top-six position, a place which will hopefully mean another chance to play in Europe.

"We play good football and we will finish in the top six," Santa Cruz added.

"There are a lot of other strong teams this season, but I believe they will all lose points against each other."
