BENNI McCarthy became South Africa's all-time leading goalscorer when he netted for his country against Paraguay last night in Pretoria.

The Rovers front man made it 30 goals for his country as South Africa defeated Paraguay 3-0.

There was concern when fellow striker Roque Santa Cruz was replaced after just 25 minutes following a challenge from club team-mate Aaron Mokoena, but it looks like the injury isn't too serious.

Mokoena's appearance was his 74th cap, another South African record.

Elsewhere around the world Jason Roberts netted twice in the first ten minutes as Grenada defeated the US Virgin Islands 10-0 in a World Cup qualifier. The 'Spice Boyz' will now face a tough match against Costa Rica in Stage 2 of the CONCACAF qualification process.

Closer to home, Andre Ooijer played the full ninety minutes as the Netherlands defeated Austria 4-3 in Vienna, but Morten Gamst Pedersen's Norway were once again on the losing side, the Rovers midfielder playing the first half as they lost 3-1 to Montenegro.

David Bentley picked up his fourth cap for England as a second half substitute in Paris, but in a poor match Bentley couldn't impress in his 25 minutes against France as the home side won 1-0.

Zurab Khizanishvili didn't feature for Georgia who were thumped 4-1 by Northern Ireland in Belfast, whilst at under 21 level, Tony Kane was on the losing side as they went down 3-1 at home to Romania.
