MANAGER Mark Hughes has once again insisted that England starlet David Bentley is not for sale.

The 23-year-old midfielder is currently in talks with the club over an improved contract and the Rovers boss believes he will be here for some time to come.

"At the end of the day, he has three years left on his contract," said Hughes. "The only people who will make the decision on whether or not David Bentley leaves is myself and the chairman.

"We've had this conversation - he's not leaving, so that is the end of the story."

Bents is currently contracted to the club until 2011 and Hughes has warned off any possible interested parties from one of his most prized assets.

"We've offered him a new contract just to illustrate the progress that he's made this year - to recognise that he is now a full international.

"It's not a case that the young man is out of contract so he's right for people to come and see if they can acquire his services - that is not the case."
