A deadly combination
MARK Hughes continues to be impressed by the performance of front two Roque Santa Cruz and Jason Roberts.
Santa Cruz made it 21 goals so far this season with his winner against Portsmouth against Sunday, laid on by Roberts.
And the Rovers boss is delighted with the way the two have terrorised defences in recent weeks.
"They are a good combination at the moment," said the Rovers boss. "Roque is playing with a lot of confidence and he's getting the goals, but Jason is putting a real shift in for us.
"He's chasing things down, giving us a threat over the top with his power and his pace, so it is causing teams problems."
The manager was also highly delighted with another commanding performance from Johann Vogel. The Swiss star followed up last week's impressive display against Manchester United with another improved game against Portsmouth on Sunday.
"He understands the game, he's got a good football intelligence, he knows what teams are trying to do when they are in possession, he blocks holes, gets a foot in, breaks things up for us and he's got good vision and good angles to his passing as well which we saw on many occasions today.
"So it was a good performance by him and by a number of players in that second half."
