He's the Rover who is living the dream, playing and scoring goals for the team that he's supports. Blackburn born Matt Derbyshire is the latest player in the hotseat answering your questions...

What were your aims at the start of this season and did ever expect you'd be a hit like you have been?
Luke Baines, Blackburn

My aims were just to be a part of the first team squad, either on the bench or to be involved as many games as I can, and no I never expected to be where I am now.

Do you like Chinese food?
Stuart Trueman

I love Chinese food! I shouldn't really be saying this, but I am partial to the odd Chinese takeaway every now and again.

Matt DerbyshireHiya Matt, how does it feel to be 'living the dream' at Rovers and do you feel you could spend your whole career at the club?
Paddy Walsh, Balderstone

Most definitely yes! I would love to stay at Rovers for as many years as I can. The position I'm in at the club at the moment is unreal.

Matt, how does it feel to be playing in the Premiership with your hometown club?
Luke Thornley

It's a dream come true. As a young boy, I always dreamed of making an appearance for my hometown club, so to be starting regularly is a different thing altogether!

Matt, can you tell me which Rovers player has given you the best advice as a young lad coming into the first team?
Adam and David Fareham, Chesterfield

I've had different advice off different sorts of players. I've received some good advice from Tugay, which is great to have from a player of his ability, and similarly with Benni McCarthy.

Matt, what have been the main influences since joining Rovers to aid your development?
Bront, Norwich

I think just wanting to succeed more than anything. Working hard and listening to the right people.

Three questions. Not long ago you were playing in the North West Counties League. What were your ambitions at the time and do you have any particular happy memories from that time? Having now played and scored at Wembley, what other ambitions do you wish to fulfil in your career? Finally, as a young lad, how have you found it fitting in with some of the more experienced members of the Rovers squad?
Bill Boaden, Ramsbottom

I have happy memories from my entire time playing there. I loved playing for Great Harwood. My main aims whilst playing there were just to become a regular starter every week. Other ambitions I have are just to secure a full-time role in whichever team I am playing for and hopefully to finish top goalscorer at the end of each season. I've not found it too bad fitting in with all the senior members of the squad. All the regular lads have made me feel quite welcome and because I've been doing quite well they've all been really supportive.

As a boyhood Rovers fan, what was it like scoring your first goal at Ewood Park in front of a packed Blackburn End?
Paul Darbyshire, Surrey

It was unreal! I never thought it would happen, so to score that goal in the latter stages of the Man City game was unbelievable.

Matt DerbyshireHiya Matty, what was it like to score at the new Wembley on your international debut?
Cameron Holder

A lot of people have asked me this. It was a completely different feeling to scoring for Blackburn. I've supported Rovers since I was a child and have progressed through the ranks, so I really get that feeling that I'm 'living the dream' and doing it for Blackburn Rovers. But for England, there was just a great deal of national pride when that ball hit the back of the net.

Hi Matt. As a member of the OLSJ school football team, did you believe you were good enough to play for Blackburn Rovers or did you just think you were the same as everyone else?
James Hamill, Blackburn

Wherever I've been, be it with Our Lady & St John or Great Harwood or Darwen, the main thing for me is just to make it at that club and try to become the number one striker in terms of goals. I never really looked at playing at any higher level, such as at Rovers, I just wanted to do the best I could for the club I was at.

Matt, what was it like making your debut for the team you have supported your whole life and how did it feel walking out for your full debut against AS Nancy this season?
Kieron Rourke, Feniscliffe

I remember the first time I played, I think I got 12 minutes against Fulham back in the 2005 season. I remember everything about that game! I think I even got a knock and probably should have come off, but I really wanted to stay on. And making my full debut against Nancy was another dream come true.

Hey Matt! Do you and the team believe it is possible to reach Wembley and win the FA Cup? And how would it feel to score the winning goal in an FA Cup final?
Nicola Atherton, Lancs

Very possible! We've got a big task to overcome Chelsea, but there's no reason why we can't do that if we play well as a team. And if it did happen, it would be great!

What would be your advice to any promising young players following the success you have enjoyed in a short space of time?
Fabrizio Gerada, Malta

Get your head down, work hard and listen to the right people.

Hiya Matt, how do you prepare for a game and do you still get nervous before a big game?
Stacey Gill, Rossendale

Of course, I get nervous before every game. I don't really have a set routine before a game, I just get my suit on and hope I have a good game.

Matt DerbyshireMatt, as you are still young, do you think you will represent England at senior level in the future? And did you ever imagine establishing yourself in the Rovers first team and representing the Under-21s as soon as you have?
Luke Maxwell, Blackburn

Because of the success I have enjoyed over the past three or four months, anything is possible, so I'll never say no. I think what I've achieved in such a short space of time is unbelievable and never did I imagine it happening quite so fast.

What was it like playing for Great Harwood Town and then finding out Blackburn Rovers were interested in you?
Chris Lambert, Great Harwood

A couple of clubs came in for me when I was younger, but as soon as I heard of the interest from Rovers there was only one place I wanted to come and it was an unbelievable feeling to sign that first deal.

Hi Matty, what do you consider to be the highs of your career so far?
Amy Baxendale, Euxton

It has to be scoring at Wembley and also scoring in front of my crowd in the cup.

Matt, who was your football hero when you were growing up? Who do you rate as the best striker in the premiership at present and why? And who do you share rooms with on the clubs away trips and which players do you get on best with at the club?
Christopher Ward, Dalton-in-Furness

Alan Shearer. He was a great role model, a great player and a top professional. A couple of strikers - Dimitar Berbatov and Didier Drogba - because they're two of the Premiership's leading goalscorers and they're movement is exceptional. It used to be Paul Gallagher, but I don't really share rooms with anyone anymore. I probably get on best with Gally, David Dunn and Andy Taylor, as well as everyone else at the club.

Hello Matty, what is your first memory as a Blackburn Rovers fan?
Viktor Kajdácsi, Budapest (Hungary)

I have lots of memories as a fan, but I remember standing on the bank behind the CIS Stand as a young kid with a couple of my friends, climbing up trees, trying to get a good view of a game.

Who would your dream strike partner be from past and present?
Dave Fareham, Chesterfield

Obviously, I would love to have played with Alan Shearer, but the strike partner I've got at present in Benni McCarthy is a dream to play with.
